Therapy Modalities:
Couples Perinatal Therapy (all phases)
It is very normal to become concerned about your relationship over the course of pregnancy or when caring for your baby. I help couples navigate: Transitions of taking on new roles Sleep deprivation Delegating baby tasks Staying close while being physically compromised Some influencing factors could be the lingering impact of a difficult birth, fertility challenges, or unresolved grief which can very easily create distance or confusion. Other partners may simply want to strengthen their partnership as they grow into parenting together. Couples therapy with a trained perinatal mental health professional can give you the pertinent insights and relational tools to help you feel grounded in your partnership as parents and as a couple.
Individual Perinatal Therapy (all phases)
Perinatal psychotherapy is a specialized form of therapy designed to support individuals during the profound transitions of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. This exciting and mystifying time of life can often bring anxiety, mood dips, grief, identity shifts, and trauma to the surface. Our individual sessions will give you a private space to explore these experiences and ultimately become empowered by them. Grounded in current perinatal mental health research, this therapy draws from modalities such as attachment-based therapy, somatic and mindfulness-based interventions, and relational psychotherapy. I will support you in identifying "normal" versus more concerning phenomena you might be encountering. Many clients find therapy to be a helpful avenue to process their birth story. Whatever chapter you are in, we will work together in a nonjudgmental, grounding way so you go forward with deeper understanding of your needs and your new life ahead of you.
