Is Therapy right for me?

It’s understandable to wonder if therapy is the right path, especially if you're feeling overwhelmed about what’s next for you. Therapy isn’t just meant for times of crisis- it can be a helpful space for reflection, healing, clarity, and growth at any stage of life.

What is therapy like?

Clients have described therapy with me as comfortable, warm, encouraging, and focused. Usually we check in about any recent thoughts or events from the last week and then we move into the topics that support your ongoing goals. You may feel like processing one particular theme during our session or you may need some guidance along the way. Either way, I keep us focused, prompting with questions or practicing exercises to help you go inward.

Is Online Therapy Effective?

I provide video sessions using Psychology Today's HIPAA compliant telehealth service. I have provided therapy virtually to clients since 2021 and it has consistently felt as effective as in-person sessions in my experience. I can still feel clients and pick up on emotional cues through our screen. For some, the comfort of being in their chosen environment can actually help them open up more easily. If you’re unsure whether video therapy is right for you, we can talk through your concerns and explore what feels most supportive.

Is Therapy Covered by Insurance? How do I Find Out the Cost of Therapy?

While I do not work in-network with insurances, I do offer a service that looks into out-of-network coverage and submits claims on your behalf. This service is called Thrizer and I'm happy to discuss how it works. My fees are all a fixed rate and you can view this information on the Services page.

How Long Will I Need to Attend Therapy to Feel Better?

Typically 6 months is a good guideline to anticipate meaningful shifts in oneself, however, this truly does vary depending on every client's needs. Short-term therapy may be appropriate for specific, well-defined issues, while other folks benefit from having a longer-term therapeutic alliance.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
