Dyadic Family Therapy

Dyadic Family Therapy is a specialized therapeutic service designed for two family members 18+  who are willing to try to dialogue with my support and guidance and agree to new healthy boundaries and mutual understanding. Sessions provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where both of you can express difficult thoughts and feelings safely. This is a unique experience that honors each of your individual perspectives and invites deep presence in the room.

Stages of Dyadic Family Therapy:

  1. Establish a foundation of safety  Acknowledging the goals and needs for therapy according to each family member and establishing ground rules

  2. Unpacking the challenges  Taking it slowly, we review the sore topics and ways both members have felt affected

  3. Repair and reconnection  With deeper understanding comes the opportunity for meaningful repair. Validating each other’s experiences, making amends, and creating new patterns of connection

  4. Integration and Moving Forward  Workshopping and practicing ideas to navigate future challenges together with more compassion

How It Works

  • Therapist will speak to both participants for an initial phone consultation to determine willingness and rightness of fit

  • First session scheduled and preliminary questionnaire sent to both participants to fill out separately prior to first session

  • Plan for 6-8 sessions which can change accordingly

  • Sessions are held virtually and/or in-person. Both participants must reside in the state of California.

  • Each session will be 60 minutes in length and include guided inner reflection, facilitated dialoguing, and active exercises.
